Ruarc's Rank Challenge

Date on e-mail: March 5, 2006

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): *The Sept of the Great Caern, being no secret among Garou, is fairly easy to find, and after a mere five days of travel, Ruarc is gliding within miles of the border of the caern's bawn.*

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): *As per the directions he's heard, a quick northeast pass brings him closer to the Salmon's Beginning's Sept of the Fianna tribe.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Flys towards the sept in lupus form, stopping at a fair distance before side stepping and giving a howl of introduction. Simply awaiting the reaction.*

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): *The Fianna don't use spirits on the physical side--in fact, most tribes don't--so the return call is a lupus howl.* WS--Stay where you are. *Soon enough he hears the sound of running feet, and a young-looking wolf-bitch steps out of the thick brush.* WS--You are?

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Watch's the wolf a moment, as if considering his words very carefully. But then finally he seems to just let it go, what ever was bothering him.* ws> Remembers the Echoes of the Fallen, Beta of Shadows Eclipse.

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): WS--Remem... Oooooooh.... Ah, OK.. Well, what do you want here, buddy?

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Damn, he thinks. Scratching at the ground a moment before lifting his head and watching her. Not in challenge more like curiousity. * ws> I come to challenge for Fostern. *Simple enough, seeming a little proud of himself.*

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): ((Sotty 'bout the delay)) WS--Who do you wish to challenge?

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: ws> One of your Galliards, of course who will accept my challenge. My step Father, Seeks-The-Spirits-Dreams instructed me to come here to challenge instead of the Great Caern. (Or so I figure heh, his step father being a local fianna theurge if you forgot. Not from anybook of course)

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): ((Works for me.)) I know him.... Wait, and I will bring someone to you. *and with that, she's gone into the brush.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Shifts to homid, and remains standing. Just waiting like a good low rank. Not wanting to do anything to upset who ever may show up*

The Redneck ST (Yeah, he's pretty friggin'... oh, THAT kind of Rank.....): *It's three who show up--obviously, after enough time for a conversation. * I am Wakes-the-Fire, Bard of the Fianna, Adren Galliard, and I have found suitable challenge for you.

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Giving a respectful nod to all three, greeting with a smile as well.* Greetings, Wakes the fire-rhya. *Giving a slight tilt of his head wondering what the challenge shall be* I thank you, rhya.

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *nods.* This is Dances-Trees, Ragabash, born Lupus, Druid of the Fianna, and Athro... Come with us. *And walks off, obviously expecting the young Fianna to follow.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *A simple nod to Dances-Trees* Greetings, rhya. *Following them 10 or more paces behind. Not wishing to press his luck with how civil they have been.*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *They lead him along a path through the thick woods--and in British Columbia, the woods are almost jungle-thick. It's literally a cold rainforest out there, and it's ~greeeeeeen~. Over trees, across hills, down creeks, over natural stone bridges--it's almost an hour of Long Running.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *A little concerned, following them. Glancing around, now and then.*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): And after the hour is almost up, they stop. Dances-Trees shifts to Lupus and stretches, grinning at the two, and Wakes-the-Fire addresses Ruarc.* We've heard of your troubles... This is a challenge normally reserved to the Athro rank, so when you succeed--and you'd better succeed--you'll be able to put a few of those rumors to rest. You need to defeat Dances-Trees in a race--back to where we started at, where someone will be waiting to see who shows first. There is only one rule: you may not shift to any other form but Homid, while Dances-Trees may take any form he wishes. *Gestures to the Ragabash, who is already in Lupus.* That is the ~only~ rule. Go to where Dances-Trees awaits, and be ready to begin.

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *That gets a blink, but he nods anyway.* Only homid, yes Rhya. *Considering how to do this, he follows the lupus, pulling out a mirror to hold at his side.* Ready when you are, Dances Trees-rhya.

Ruarc Brnach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: (Rolls for it. Dex+Ath or Flight if the character has it. Diff 8 if i recall right? Need to know roughly the MPH he can do. Also need to know the position of the sun/moon which ever time it is now and he'd probably have an idea of where it was when he first gave his Howl of Intro.)

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *Dances-trees grunts, and Wakes-the-Fire nods.* GO!

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *and old Dances-Trees is ~fast~. Around trees, under fallen trunks, worming through brush with hardly a pause, running along fallen limbs without a trace of trouble balancing. Old boy's movin'.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: (For the record, okay then, wits+Enigmas diff 6 for fairy light, wits+ath to hit just right diff 6, gnosis diff 4 side step, man+exp diff 6 for asking for help then? 1 Round for the Fairy Light, 1 Round for the side-step, and 1 round for the request, unless he wants to spend more on that.) *Watches Dances, concentraiting and poofs as Fairy light pops before his eyes* (Fairy light, 9,9,5 (2 successes) targeting 10,8,10 (3 successes)

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *Dances-Trees is no dummy, and after several years among the Fianna he knows the Gift. Cool as it may be to see the old-timer slam head-first into a tree, he instead skids to a halt and closes his eyes, navigating his way carefully until it's no longer right in his eyes. All the same, it did at least slow him down.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Side steps as he sees him slow ((Diff 4, used willpower) 10,5,7,7 (5 successes)) Runs and takes flight soon as he finds enough break in the trees to gain height before calling out to any wind spirit for aid (and you have got to be shitting me. The biggest di pool so far gets , man+Exp 1,4,1,5,3, 3 (BOTCH x 2), thats just not right. Holy shit that is just not right)

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *Ruarc's trip into the Umbra is plain and simply effortless, no more than the slightest focusing of will on his desire to be on the other side of the Gauntlet. His plea to the wind spirits, on the other hand, brings not even a reply but an empathic feel of righteous anger.*

The Redneck ST:  *At first Ruarc struggles against a rather nasty headwind and the anger of the wind-spirits, but a well-spoken apology causes the wind to abate, although they still have yet to support his cause.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: ) Thank you.. *Said softly to the winds as he keeps going*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *He doesn't quite know if, but the elder is still a touch ahead of him. All the same, he's got plenty of room to even things up now.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *He just knows he has to win this, a much harder challenge then needed. If he can pull this off it must mean something to even the biggest critics!*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *Ruarc's shoulders are straining, sweat soaking his clothes as his legs and arms trail behind him, but he's making some ~serious~ speed, the ground rushing beneath him like a swift-flowing stream. He's got to have a lead on the old bastard by now...*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *Unbenownst to Ruarc, Dances has--to his intense embarrassment--gotten lost in the thick brush, and puts a few moments to waste, using his nose to find the path.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Takes a moment to concentrait on just flying, not wanting to loose focus again. *

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *And so he moves... not very far, though. He can't see old Dances-Trees, but whatever lead he might have gained he's likely losing.. ..*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *Unfortunately, Ruarc, unfamiliar with the use of his wings, chest muscles burning since he's never actually used them to propel himself, is slowing--he's ~got~ to be falling further behind.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Steps across, blinking and looking around wildly. Arms crossing over his chest as he groans from the burning muscles. Wincing a bit as he realizes....he must have been ahead. If only my seconds.*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *And barely seconds at that. The wolf sighs with relief as it skids to a halt, and the young Garou nods.* Hooty-hoo has won the challenge. *at least he has the grace to lower his eyes at a growl from the elder.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *That actaully gets a grin, looking at the speaker* No disrespect but...Piss off, I believe that was a challenge ment for a athro. *Still slightly bent over, he bows to Dance's. Still trying to catch his breath from those last moments of flight.* Thank you, Dances Tree-rhya.

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *The wolf snorts.* The average Adren doesn't have ~wings.~ Piss off your self, Fostern. Or get some rest first. Well done.

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Gives a grin and nods* True, thank you again rhya. *Nods, wandering off to find some place to rest*

The Redneck ST (bloody friggin' computer): *The wolf snorts in amusement and nips the youngster's legs.* Time to get back. Glimmer-of-Luna has been at work again, and I want to see if he's managed to outdo himself yet.... *And thus the two disappear into the brush.*

Ruarc Brónach ~Remembers-the-Echoes-of-the-Fallen~: *Rest up before heading to the Great Caern to see his family*
